Mayim Bialik career
Bialik started her acting career as a child in the late 1980s. Her debut acting role was in the horror film Pumpkinhead, released in 1988. During the previous season, she also had two brief cameos on Beauty and the Beast and The Facts of Life.
From 1988 to 1989, she portrayed Frieda, Webster’s classmate, in eight episodes of the sitcom Webster. She received her Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card for her performance in Beauty and the Beast as Ellie, a young character who lived in a sewer and had just ten lines of dialogue.
Bialik appeared in three MacGyver episodes as Lisa Woodman. In the 1988 picture Beaches, she made her screen debut as a young child, played by Bette Midler. Several reviewers noted that she had an especially strong performance.
